Theodor van Gülpen

Theodor van Gülpen (born June 29, 1761 in Düren , † 1840 in Werden ) was a German Benedictine and pastor Primarius at the abbey church of the Benedictine monastery Werden and office president.

Life

Theodor van Gülpen entered the Benedictine order of the former Reichsabbey of Werden on November 6, 1779 .

On August 8, 1784 he was ordained a priest. This was followed by the appointment to pastor in Helmstedt on July 21, 1788 . On November 14, 1795 he returned to Werden Abbey and was appointed President of the Chancellery. After the monastery was abolished with the secularization , he was employed as pastor primarius cum juristictione quasi episcopali with the title of the former prelate at the abbey church of St. Ludgerus and had the supervision of all schools of the monastery.

Theodor van Gülpen earned many services to the churches and schools of his circle. In 1834 he was awarded the 3rd Class Red Eagle Order .
