Therese Boschetti

Therese Boschetti ( 1847 in Prague or Bozen - 1919 in Vienna ) was an Austrian child actress and opera singer ( soprano ).

Life

Boschetti, whose parents ran a silk dyeing factory in Prague, appeared at the spendthrift as the youngest child “Valentins” at the age of three . In 1860 she came to Salzburg and continued to play children's roles there for two years until she decided to have her voice, which was developing more and more, trained for opera.

Although she appeared in small soubrette roles at the Deutsches Theater in Prague, where she went in 1862 , she mainly focused on the development of her voice by taking regular singing lessons from opera members Hans Rokitansky and Bernard. Just so as not to interrupt her studies with the teachers mentioned, she accepted an engagement as an opera and poses soubrette at the Bohemian theater after her contract was no longer renewed by the director of the German theater. However, her ignorance of the Bohemian language made her position extremely difficult; in fact, in 1864 she even felt compelled to leave Prague and accept an application to the Wiesbaden court theater.

She made her debut there as “Zerlina” in Don Juan , “ Ännchen ” and “ Eurydice ”, with such resounding success that she was immediately engaged. After five years in a preferred position at this art institute, in 1869 she accepted an application for a guest performance at the Hofoperntheater in Vienna, which she joined in the same year after a successful debut.

She stayed at this court theater until 1872 and then exchanged the same for an engagement at the city theater in Leipzig. She was also one of the most popular members there, but after a short time also left this art venue to sing at the National Theater in Prague from 1874 to 1881. She was also a guest in Italy. She later lived in Vienna, where she died in 1919.

Her son Victor Boschetti (1872–1933) was the organist and pianist as well as long-time répétiteur at the Vienna Court and State Opera.
