Polyolefin molding compound

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The polyolefin molding of polyethylene and polypropylene are in accordance with ISO 1872 (PE) and ISO 1873 (PP).

Plastics must be provided with additives and aggregates before processing . In order to be able to understand these changes, polyolefin molding compounds are marked according to ISO 1872 and ISO 1873 (old DIN 16773).

These standards clearly identify the polyolefin molding compound using a series of letters and numbers that are arranged in up to five blocks. The following example serves as an illustration:

ISO 1873 - PP-H MFRN 06-D003 GF30
  • Block 1: Abbreviation of the polymer and additives, here polypropylene homopolymer
  • Block 2: Processing method, here injection molding compound, fire protection m., Mold release m., Not colored
  • Block 3: ...

The characters possible for each data block and their respective meanings are listed below.
