Theumis

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Theumis is a variant of the first name Thomas , common in the southern Lower Saxony region .

The linguistic origin has not yet been precisely clarified. What is certain is that the name for the first time in the villages Eddigehausen and Bovenden , north of Göttingen , from dialect was spoken out.

The name is also mentioned in a children's song that has been handed down there since around 1920 :

"Use ( our ) Bauer Theumis has a Gauckel ( Gockel, Hahn )
did sin ( be ) Gauckel shrine '
to everyone did rejoice'
he shouts at seubin ( seven ) days
up de Mistehagen ( Hagen: Mountain, heaps; here: dunghill , today also neighborly: Komposthagen )
