Thierry Repentin (born April 5, 1963 in Saint-Jean-de-la-Porte , Savoie ) is a French politician . From March 19, 2013 to March 31, 2014 he was Assistant Minister for European Affairs in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the Cabinet of Prime Minister Jean-Marc Ayrault .

Life

Thierry Repentin studied in Chambéry and at the Institut d'études politiques Grenoble . He started his professional career in 1988 in the European Commission . In 1989 he changed as office manager of the then mayor Louis Besson in the city administration of Chambéry. After Besson became Assistant Minister for Housing in Lionel Jospin's cabinet in 1997 , Thierry Repentin followed him as a specialist advisor in his ministerial office. From 2001 to 2004 he was chairman of the Chambéry municipal association.

Thierry Repentin is married and has two daughters.

Political offices

Thierry Repentin has been a member of the General Council of the Savoie department for the canton of Chambéry-Nord since 1998 . From 2004 to 2012 he was one of the department's two senators in the French Senate .

In June 2012 he became Assistant Minister for Vocational Education and Teaching in the Ministry of Labor, Employment, Vocational Training and Social Dialogue . In March 2013, he moved to the post of Minister for Europe after the previous incumbent Bernard Cazeneuve had been appointed Minister Associate for the Budget in the Ministry of Economy and Finance .
