Saint-Jean-de-la-Porte is located about 20 kilometers east-northeast of Chambéry on the Isère . Saint-Jean-de-la-Porte is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Aillon-le-Jeune in the north and north-west, Sainte-Reine in the north and north-east, Saint-Pierre-d'Albigny in the east, Coise-Saint-Jean-Pied- Gauthier in the south and Cruet and La Thuile in the west and southwest. The community is located within the Massif des Bauges Regional Nature Park .
