La Ravoire is a French municipality with 8457 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Savoie in the region of Auvergne Rhône-Alpes . It is the capital of the canton of La Ravoire .

La Ravoire is located about five kilometers southeast of Chambéry, between the Massif des Bauges in the northeast and the Massif de la Chartreuse in the southwest.

Neighboring municipalities are from the north (clockwise): Barby , Challes-les-Eaux , Myans , Saint-Baldoph , Barberaz and Saint-Alban-Leysse .

To the west runs the Autoroute A43 ( Autoroute alpine or Autoroute de la Maurienne ), which connects Lyon with Italy via Modane through the Tunnel du Fréjus . It can be reached from junction 19 (La Ravoire).

In the south-west runs the Culoz – Modane railway , which can be reached via Chambéry station.
