Tresserve is a municipality in the French department of Savoie with 3014 inhabitants (1 January 2017) in the region of Auvergne Rhône-Alpes . It belongs to the canton of Aix-les-Bains-2 in the Arrondissement of Chambéry .

geography

Tresserve is located at 320  m , near Aix-les-Bains , about 13 kilometers north of the city of Chambéry (as the crow flies). The village extends in the northwest of the Savoie department, in the foothills of the Alps at the west foot of Mont Revard , on a ridge above the east bank of Lac du Bourget .

The area of ​​the 2.77 km² large municipal area (excluding the lake) includes a section on the east bank of Lac du Bourget. The lakeshore line is around 3.5 km, with the northern boundary being on the alluvial cone of the Sierroz that protrudes into the lake . From the lakeshore, the community area extends eastward on the ridge of Tresserve and into the broad valley of the Tillet to the east . On the ridge, the highest point of Tresserve is reached at 331  m .

Neighboring municipalities of Tresserve are Aix-les-Bains in the north and east, Viviers-du-Lac in the south and Le Bourget-du-Lac and Bourdeau in the west.

history

Finds from the Bronze Age indicate a very early settlement of the municipality. During the Bronze Age, there were various pile dwellings on the shores of Lac du Bourget , including one in Tresserve ( 45 ° 40 ′ 12.8 ″  N , 5 ° 53 ′ 33.2 ″  E ). Their remains lie below the water level of Lac du Bourget and were added to the list of prehistoric pile dwellings around the Alps of the UNESCO World Heritage in 2011 and classified as Monument historique in France . Dendrochronological examinations revealed felling dates from 990 BC. BC to 805 BC Chr. Range. Other finds, including the remains of a palisade , dated using the radiocarbon method, showed an even older settlement period from the 11th century BC. After. In the Middle Ages, Tresserve was first mentioned in a document in 1340 under its current name. The modifications Treserva (1414), Tresserva (1497), Tresselve (1568) and Troiserve (1690) have survived from a later period . The place name is made up of the old French words tres (beyond) and serve (forest). Until the 16th century Tresserve belonged to the domain of the La Ravoire family, after which it came to the rule of Aix.

The Château de Bonport , built towards the end of the 16th century, is located directly on the bank below the Tresserve ridge . Originally the center of an estate brought to power by Emanuel Philibert of Savoy , it burned down completely in the summer of 2008 after it had previously been used as a nightclub.

Today, the settlement area of ​​Tresserve has almost completely merged with that of Aix-les-Bains.

Economy and Infrastructure

Tresserve was a predominantly agricultural and fishing village until the 20th century . There are also some small and medium-sized businesses. In the meantime the village has turned into a residential community. Many workers are commuters who work mainly in the Aix-les-Bains and Chambéry area.

The place is well developed in terms of traffic. It is located above the main road D1201, which leads from Chambéry along the east bank of Lac du Bourget to Aix-les-Bains. The Culoz – Modane railway runs behind the Tresserve ridge and has the nearest train station in Aix-les-Bains. The closest connection to the A41 motorway is around 4 km away.
