Valgelon-La Rochette is a French commune with 4,111 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Savoie in the region of Auvergne Rhône-Alpes . It belongs to the Arrondissement of Chambéry and the canton of Montmélian .

It was created as Commune nouvelle with effect from January 1, 2019 by amalgamating the previous communes of La Rochette and Étable , which have the status of a Commune déléguée in the new commune . The administrative headquarters are in La Rochette.

geography

The community is located around 20 kilometers southeast of Chambéry . The municipality is crossed by the Gélon River , a tributary of the Isère . Neighboring communities are: Rotherens in the north, La Table in the northeast, Le Verneil in the east, Presle in the southeast, Arvillard in the south, Détrier in the southwest, Villaroux in the west and Saint-Pierre-de-Soucy and La Croix-de-la-Rochette in the Northwest.
