Châteauneuf is a French municipality with 894 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) within the arrondissement Chambéry in the department of Savoie in the region of Auvergne Rhône-Alpes . The municipality belongs to the canton of Saint-Pierre-d'Albigny (until 2015: canton of Chamoux-sur-Gelon ). The inhabitants are called Castelneuvois .
geography
Châteauneuf is located about 19 kilometers east-southeast of Chambéry on the Isère , which forms the northern municipal boundary. Châteauneuf is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Saint-Pierre-d'Albigny in the north, Chamousset in the northeast, Bourgneuf in the east, Chamoux-sur-Gelon in the southeast, Betton-Bettonet in the south, Hauteville in the south and southwest, Coise-Saint-Jean- Pied-Gauthier to the west and south-west and Saint-Jean-de-la-Porte to the west and north-west.
