geography
location
Meyrieux-Trouet is located at 562 m , about 14 kilometers northwest of the prefecture of Chambéry and 74 kilometers east of the city of Lyon (as the crow flies). The village is located on the western edge of the Savoie department on the western slope of a mountain range that separates Lac du Bourget from the Rhone Valley . Neighboring municipalities of Meyrieux-Trouet are Saint-Paul in the north, Le Bourget-du-Lac in the east, Verthemex in the south, Saint-Pierre-d'Alvey in the southwest and La Chapelle-Saint-Martin in the west.
topography
The area of the 11.05 km 2 municipality covers a section of the southern French Jura on the west side of an anticline that extends west of the Lac du Bourget in a north-south direction. The summit ridge of these anticlines forms the eastern boundary of the municipality in the area of Mont du Chat , where the highest point of Meyrieux-Trouet is reached at 1480 m . At the foot of its steep, wooded western slope begins a plain, with a slight relief, over which the various hamlet settlements of Meyrieux-Trouet are spread. A small stream, the Flon , drains the municipal area north to the Rhone.
Community structure
In addition to the actual town center, Meyrieux-Trouet also includes several hamlet settlements and farmsteads, including:
- Trouet and Cremaire ( 610 m ) next to each other at the foot of Mont du Chat
- le Risolet ( 500 m ) north of the village center
- le Villaret ( 575 m ) south of the village center
- Méthenod ( 487 m ) on the other side of the Flon
history
The community of Meyrieux-Trouet goes back to the two originally independent parishes of Meyrieux and Trouet, which were merged between 1795 and 1803 after the French Revolution . Both were first mentioned in the 14th century: Trouet as parrocchia de Trevoy and Meyrieux as Mariacum , whose name probably goes back to the proper name Marius. Today's hamlet Le Villaret was the seat of a small manor with a permanent house in the Middle Ages .
Attractions
The village church of Meyrieux-Trouet was built in the 19th century. A hiking trail leads to the summit chain of Mont du Chat .

The local residents of Meyrieux-Trouet are called Meyrieuland (e) s in French .
Economy and Infrastructure
Meyrieux-Trouet has always been a predominantly agricultural village. In the meantime the village has also developed into a residential community. Many workers are commuters who go to work in the larger towns in the area, especially in the Aix-les-Bains and Chambéry areas.
The village is away from the major thoroughfares. Department roads connect it to the larger towns in the area, including Yenne , Novalaise and Le Bourget-du-Lac. There are connections to the regional and supraregional infrastructure via the greater Chambéry area, about 25 km away, with its airport , SNCF train station and connections to the A41 and A43 motorways .
