geography

Le Noyer is located at 850  m , about 17 kilometers northeast of the prefecture of Chambéry and 25 kilometers south-southwest of the city of Annecy (as the crow flies). The mountain village extends in the north-west of the Savoie department, in the Bauges massif , in the valley of the Ruisseau de Saint-François opposite Saint-François-de-Sales, between the heights of Mont Revard in the west and Mont Margeriaz in the southeast.

The area of the 12.30 km² municipal area includes a section of the solid mass of the Bauges. The western border always runs along the Ruisseau de Saint-François , which flows in a valley to the northeast to the Chéran . The community area stretches eastward from the stream over the initially relatively gentle, then steeply rising slope of Le Noyer, which is dominated by the limestone cliffs of Mont Margeriaz . At 1845  m , the highest point of Le Noyer is reached on Mont Margeriaz. The mountain ridge, which runs out from the summit to the northeast and gradually descends, forms the eastern border. To the south-west, the municipality extends to the Col de Plainpalais, a pass crossing that connects to Chambéry. The municipality lies within the Regional Nature Park Massif des Bauges (French: Parc naturel régional du Massif des Bauges ).

In addition to the actual town center, Le Noyer also includes various hamlet settlements and farms, including:

  • La Ville ( 780  m ) in the valley of the Ruisseau de Saint-François
  • Charmillon ( 830  m ) in the valley of the Ruisseau de Saint-François
  • Le Perrier ( 890  m ) in the valley of the Ruisseau de Saint-François
  • Les Chavonnes ( 1030  m ) on a leveled area at the foot of Mont Margeriaz

Neighboring municipalities of Le Noyer are Lescheraines in the northeast, Aillon-le-Vieux in the southeast, Les Déserts in the southwest and Saint-François-de-Sales in the northwest.
