geography
location
Loisieux is located at 545 m , about 17 kilometers northwest of the prefecture of Chambéry , 52 kilometers north of the city of Grenoble and 41 kilometers southwest of the city of Annecy (as the crow flies). The village is located on the western edge of the Savoie department, a few kilometers from the Rhone . Neighboring municipalities of Loisieux are Traize in the north, La Chapelle-Saint-Martin in the east, Saint-Pierre-d'Alvey in the south, Saint-Genix-les-Villages with Saint-Maurice-de-Rotherens in the southwest and Champagneux and La Balme in the West.
topography
The area of the 9.33 km 2 municipal area comprises a section of the southern French Jura on a broad base of terrain, which rises a few kilometers east of the municipality to a ridge ( anticline ), the Mont du Chat, rising to about 1500 m . To the west, the communal soil rises gently to a ridge that drops about 400 m down to the Rhone. At this edge, which also forms the western boundary of the municipality, the municipality reaches its highest point at 860 m . Due to its high location, the slightly hilly municipal area is only drained by small watercourses, the most important being the Merdaret and, on the southern municipal boundary, the Ruisseau de la Polinière .
Community structure
The community is a scattered settlement with various hamlets and farmsteads grouped around the village church, including les Rubattiers , les Cottarels , les Roubins and le Murger at altitudes between 480 m and 630 m . Bressieux ( 615 m ) is also located on a hill in the south of the municipality .
history
The parish of Loisieux was first mentioned in the 14th century under the spellings Leysieu and Loysieu . In the Middle Ages, the village was owned by the lordship of la Dragonnière near Yenne .
Attractions
The village church is from the 19th century.
