Location of the canton of Montmélian in the Savoie department

The canton Montmélian is a French constituency in the department of Savoie in the region of Auvergne Rhône-Alpes . Today's canton currently comprises 27 municipalities in the Arrondissement of Chambéry , after being assigned to the 14 municipalities of the dissolved canton La Rochette in 2015 through the nationwide reorganization of the cantons . Its main town (French:  bureau centralisateur ) is in Montmélian .

Until the reorganization, the canton of Montmélian included the 15 municipalities of Apremont , Arbin , Chignin , Francin , La Chavanne , Laissaud , Les Marches , Les Mollettes , Montmélian , Myans , Planaise , Saint-Pierre-de-Soucy , Sainte-Hélène-du-Lac , Villard-d'Héry and Villaroux . Its layout corresponded to an area of ​​102.77 km ² . Before 2015 it had a different INSEE code than it does today, namely 7318.
