Thierry Robert

Thierry Robert (born April 1, 1977 in Saint-Denis , Réunion ) is a French politician . He was a member of the National Assembly from June 20, 2012 to July 6, 2018 .

After graduating from high school, Robert studied engineering in Reims and then returned to Réunion to run his family business. His political career began when he joined the UDF , of which he was regional delegate in 2005. In 2006 he became chairman of the Jeunes UDF for Réunion. After the dissolution of the UDF, he joined the new MoDem party . In 2008 he was elected mayor of the municipality of Saint-Leu and entered the General Council of Réunion.

In the parliamentary elections in 2012 , he was elected to the National Assembly in the seventh constituency of Réunion, making him one of two members of the MoDem. In the parliamentary elections in 2017 he was re-elected. On July 6, 2018, the Conseil constitutionnel declared Roberts' mandate to have expired due to tax evasion and the loss of his right to stand for three years. Robert retained his mandate as mayor.
