Thilo Muster (* 1965 in Lörrach ) is a German-Swiss organist .

Life

Muster received training at the Music Academy of the City of Basel with Peter Efler (piano) and Guy Bovet (organ). In 1992 he completed his soloist diploma with distinction.

He was a prizewinner at the 1992 Swiss Organ Competition and the Geneva Competition ( Concours de Genève ) in 1993.

From 1994 to 2005 Muster was titular organist at St. Peter's Cathedral in Geneva . From 1995 to 2003 he was artistic director of Les Concerts Spirituels Genève .

Initially known as a committed interpreter of early music, Muster has proven to be a versatile musician who prefers projects that go beyond musical genre boundaries. So has z. B. His duo Taragot & Organ with the Swiss taragot player and multi-instrumentalist Samuel Freiburghaus received international attention.

Muster is co-initiator of the new organ building in the music hall of the Stadtcasino Basel , which he also oversees as an expert as a VOD- certified organ expert. At the suggestion of Muster, the use of certified sustainable pewter was discussed for the first time in the world for this new organ, which attracted wide media coverage.

As the artistic co-director of the organ festival Stadtcasino Basel, which he co-founded, Muster is concerned with making organ culture accessible to a wider audience.

Muster lives in Basel .
