Thilo Schölpen

Thilo Schölpen (born 1966 in Orsoy ) is a German musician , composer and music producer who specializes in experimental music, avant-garde and performance .

Career

Schölpen studied piano from 1987 to 1991 at the Amsterdamse Hogeschool voor de Kunsten . Since 1991 he has lived and worked as a freelance musician in Düsseldorf . He gives solo concerts as a pianist and plays experimental music in ensembles and as a soloist.

In 2001 he founded the Perlon group and the Perlon Studio of the same name in Düsseldorf together with Peter Issig and Anja Lautermann . He published CDs with Perlon and, in addition to concerts in Germany, also made a concert tour through Spain.

Since 2003 Schölpen has been active in the weltAusstellung artist collective (Anja Lautermann, Peter Issig, Uwe Möllhusen ), which, in addition to concerts, also presents multimedia performances and installations.

In 2005 he transcribed pieces by the electrical pioneers Kraftwerk for the piano and gave concerts in Germany, Spain, England, Italy and the USA. In 2007 he started, together with Peter Issig and Sebastian Winne, Beat Clint , a research platform for new musical forms of expression related to jazz, rock and noise music. This studio work led to the release of the CD "Beat Clint" in 2012. Concerts in clubs followed.

In 2011 he resumed his collaboration with Robert Schleisiek and developed the Feedback Aerophonium with him, a tonally playable instrument that works on the sound basis of acoustic feedback. In May 2013, for example, the performance could be heard as part of the Blue Night in the Katharinenruine in Nuremberg . They are still touring internationally under the name The Feedback Gents .

In 2015 “Piano Diary” was created, a piano solo program that was only performed once.
