Thomas-Charles-Auguste Dallery
Thomas-Charles-Auguste Dallery (born September 4, 1754 in Amiens , † June 1, 1835 in Jouy-en-Josas ) was a French engineer .
He comes from the French organ building family Dallery . His father, Charles Dallery (1710-1780) came from Amiens. His nephew Pierre Dallery (1735–1800) built the organ for Notre-Dame in Paris.
At first he also devoted himself to organ building and perfected jewelry. In 1780 he invented a steam engine with a boiler tube. In December 1783, he raised two balloons in Amiens. Three weeks later, Alexander Lapostolle (1749–1830) recommended coal gas for filling balloons. In 1802 he patented a four-wheel steam car with the first gearbox. In 1803 he received a patent for a steam-powered propeller to drive a ship. He had undertaken to build a boat on this principle, but ruined himself doing it.
