Thomas Ackermann (lawyer)

Thomas Ackermann (* 1966 ) is a German lawyer and professor at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich .

Life

Ackermann studied law at the University of Bonn and the University of Cambridge from 1985 to 1991 . After his first state examination in 1991 in Bonn, he worked there as a research assistant, after his second state examination as a research assistant to Wulf-Henning Roth . In 1997 he also completed his doctorate there. His habilitation followed in 2004, with which he was awarded the venia legendi for the subjects civil law, German and European business law, comparative law and international private law.

After a substitute chair at the University of Marburg , he held the chair for German, European and international private and commercial law at the FAU Erlangen-Nürnberg . In 2009 he moved to the LMU Munich to the chair for civil law, European and international business law, which he has held since then. In 2016/2017 he is a fellow at the Wissenschaftskolleg zu Berlin.

Jens-Uwe Franck is one of his students .

Ackermann is a member of the civil law teachers' association and the Munich Risk and Insurance Center.
