Thomas Bieberbach

Thomas Bieberbach (born November 12, 1966 in Suhl ) is a former enduro athlete from the GDR and so far the only German individual world champion.

After his apprenticeship as an agricultural machine fitter, Thomas Bieberbach became a member of MC Simson Suhl at the age of 18 . In the same year he was top of the class in the 150 cm³ class of ID drivers. That is why he drove in the special class from 1985 and was third in the championship at the end of the year. The following year, Simson was accepted into the works team . In 1987 Thomas Bieberbach won the international six-day race in Jelenia Góra, Poland, in the 80 cc class and was a member of the victorious GDR silver vase team that won the junior world championship. In the same year he also won the GDR championship title . In 1988 he finished second in the Enduro European Championship . At the Six Days in 1989 he was the best-placed GDR driver. At the Enduro World Championship , which was held for the first time in 1990 , he was able to record a number of race wins, including the German run around Zschopau , and ultimately secured the overall standings. Due to an injury, he was no longer able to defend the title the following year, now riding on TM . In 1993 he opened a motor vehicle workshop for two-wheelers. In 1997 he ended his sporting career.

Thomas Bieberbach was a KTM dealer in his home town of Marisfeld , where he runs his own motocross track near his KTM BieBerBach store .
