Thomas Bonhoeffer

Thomas Bonhoeffer (born August 26, 1931 in Berlin ) is a German practical theologian .

Life

Thomas Bonhoeffer was born as the son of the resistance fighter Klaus Bonhoeffer and nephew of the theologian and resistance fighter Dietrich Bonhoeffer . He studied theology at the universities of Tübingen and Heidelberg . In 1956 he went to Switzerland and received his doctorate in systematic theology at the University of Zurich in 1961 , his habilitation in practical theology followed in 1966, also in Zurich.

From 1973 to 1996 Thomas Bonhoeffer held a professorship for pastoral psychiatry at the Protestant theological faculty of the Ruhr University Bochum . He worked as a visiting professor for one semester at the Claremont Graduate University in Claremont (California) and in 1977/78 for one year at the University of Strasbourg .

Bonhoeffer's interdisciplinary work honored the theological faculty of the University of Neuchâtel with an honorary doctorate .

Thomas Bonhoeffer is widowed and lives in Bochum.
