Thomas Braumann

Thomas Braumann (born March 11,  1953 in Bremen ) is a German basketball official .

Life

Braumann studied biology and chemistry at the University of Hamburg and obtained his doctorate in biochemistry from the University of Bremen . Professionally, he worked in the tobacco industry, in 1997 he moved to Frosta AG , where he was promoted to chairman of the board in 2001, in autumn 2003 he left office after the company's turnover had fallen sharply and then became a self-employed management consultant.

Braumann was a basketball official at Eisbären Bremerhaven from 2002 , most recently as chairman of the advisory board of the operating company Eisbären Bremerhaven Marketing GmbH, but resigned from this position when he became president of the Bundesliga basketball team in September 2006. On June 30, 2014, he resigned as chairman of the supervisory board of BBL GmbH. He had come under fire in the course of the contract extension of the then league manager Jan Pommer and had admitted in spring 2014 that he had made a mistake in this regard. After his resignation as Bundesliga president and chairman of the supervisory board, Braumann remained chairman of the license league committee.

In April 2015, Braumann was appointed Honorary President of the AG Basketball Bundesliga and was awarded the Golden Badge of Honor of the German Basketball Association in June 2015 .
