Thomas E. Gaddis

Thomas Eugene Gaddis (born September 14, 1908 in Denver , Colorado , † October 10, 1984 in Portland , Oregon ) was an American writer .

Life

Thomas E. Gaddis worked as a psychologist, court expert and from 1962 to 1965 professor at Reed College . He worked in a prison and later wrote two biographers about the serial killer Carl Panzram and the violent criminal Robert Stroud . Both books were made into films. Burt Lancaster played Stroud in the 1962 film drama The Prisoner of Alcatraz and James Woods played Panzram in the 1996 crime film Killer - Diary of a Serial Killer .

Gaddis died on October 10, 1984 at the age of 76 as a result of his cancer .
