Thomas Emmerling

Thomas Emmerling (born June 3, 1963 in Nuremberg ) is a German art collector .

Art and social engagement

In his collection he focuses on painting , graphics , sculpture, photo and video art with a focus on works by artists from Central Europe and the Danube region (Germany, Austria, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Croatia, Serbia, Bulgaria and Romania). All positions in his collection follow a lyrical abstract and narrative line. Mainly political and social issues are represented.

In addition, he focuses in his graphic collection on classic-modern positions such as Pablo Picasso , Joan Miro and Henri Matisse and everyone who influenced them such as Rembrandt and Albrecht Dürer .

In 2001 Thomas Emmerling was state chairman of the Bavarian Junior Chamber and a member of the “Active Civil Society” working group of the Bavarian State Parliament. In 2003, he was federal chairman of the Wirtschaftsjunioren Germany and national president of Junior Chamber International (JCI). He is still in the JCI Senate today.

Since 2013 Thomas Emmerling has been exclusively concerned with his art collection and the promotion of young and emerging artists.

He curated the exhibition "Impreuna - together" with seven Romanian and German contemporary artists at Sibiu Airport , Romania, 2018. He also curated the exhibition "Ewigkeit der Moderne - four generations of the Mattis-Teutsch family of artists" at the Timisoara Art Museum, Romania 2018/2019 .

Emmerling runs the art house 7B in Michelsberg, Romania .
