Thomas Erne (* 1956 in Stuttgart ) is professor for practical theology and author of several religious books for children and young people.

Career

The pastor's son studied theology at the University of Tübingen and school music at the Stuttgart University of Music and Performing Arts . His doctoral thesis from 1993 was on the subject of “The Art of Living. Acquisition of aesthetic experience. A theological contribution to aesthetics following Kierkegaard ”. Between 1990 and 2005 he was the parish pastor in Köngen , and from 2002 at the same time private lecturer for practical theology at the University of Tübingen. He completed his habilitation in 2002 with a thesis on “ Hans Blumenberg : Rhetoric and Religion. Studies on Practical Theology of Everyday Life ”. At the Bethel Church University he held the chair for practical theology for two years.

Since October 2007 he has been a professor at the University of Marburg and director of the Institute for Church Construction and Church Art of the Present , a research facility of the Evangelical Church in Germany .

Erne is married to a visual artist, has three grown children and lives in Marburg .
