Thomas Fahnemann

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Thomas Fahnemann (born March 14, 1961 in Frankfurt am Main ) is a German businessman and manager.

Life

Fahnemann studied business administration in Mainz and completed an Executive MBA program at Northwestern University in Chicago .

He started his professional career at Hoechst in Frankfurt, where he later held management positions in Germany and abroad. In 1995 he went to the USA in order to be responsible for the sale of the fiber business for Trevira GmbH , which was then closely associated with Hoechst . In 1998 he became Chief Operating Officer of KoSa in Houston, Texas. In 2003 he returned to Europe to head Lenzing AG in Austria , which also specializes in industrial fibers, as CEO.

On January 1, 2009, he moved to the Austrian RHI AG as CEO , which, among other things, manufactures refractory products for all industrial high temperature processes. His predecessor was Andreas Maier. As a supplier to the steel and construction industry, RHI is suffering heavily from the real economic effects of the financial crisis and in the first half of 2009 reported a 25 percent decline in sales. Fahnemann quickly implemented cost-cutting measures, including downsizing, and separated corporate divisions into independent profit centers.

On August 20, 2010, Thomas Fahnemann informed the Supervisory Board of RHI AG that he would like to leave the company for personal reasons with immediate effect. The supervisory board complied with his request and an amicable dissolution was achieved.

With effect from December 1, 2010, Fahnemann was appointed Deputy Chairman of the Management Board by the Semperit AG Supervisory Board. He was appointed CEO and successor to Rainer Zellner by the company's general meeting on April 14, 2011 . In this role he heads the medical and industrial sectors and is also responsible for corporate development, personnel, compliance, communication, procurement and logistics. On April 26, 2016, the mandate was extended to December 31, 2019. On March 15, 2017, he resigned from his position with immediate effect.
