Thomas Fellow (* 1966 in Leipzig as Thomas Günther ) is a German guitarist who initially emerged in the field of classical music and from 1992 in virtuoso pop music.

Live and act

Fellow played guitar at the age of seven; After receiving his first awards at national competitions, he began studying concert guitar in 1982 at the "Franz Liszt" Music Academy in Weimar ; a master class with Monika and Jürgen Rost followed. Since 1989 he has worked as a concert guitarist. He played as a soloist with the Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach Chamber Orchestra , performed internationally and interpreted works dedicated to him, a.o. a. by Carlo Domeniconi and Jaime Zenamon . After prizes at various international competitions (including Esztergom and Markneukirchen), he completed his classical music activities in 1992 with a concert at the Berlin Philharmonic .

Since 1991 Fellow has played with the singer Constanze Friend in the duo Friend 'n Fellow , which performed worldwide and recorded numerous albums. The duo made more than 1,000 performances and sold more than 100,000 CDs. In addition, he has been active in the Duo Hands on Strings with guitarist Stephan Bormann since 2000 , with whom he has so far released four CDs.

In 2012 he formed the European Guitar Quartet with Pavel Steidl , Zoran Dukić and Reentko Dirks , with which the album Danza was initially created. The group has received invitations to festivals in Mexico, the USA, France, Serbia, Spain, Switzerland, to a concert tour through Colombia and to the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam.

Fellow is professor for acoustic guitar (concert music, world music, jazz, pop) at the "Carl Maria von Weber" University of Music in Dresden . In the mid-1990s he founded the acoustic guitar course in Dresden - concert music, world music, jazz, pop . He wrote a textbook and several collections of compositions that were published by Schott . He also taught at the Capital University in Columbus / USA, at the Real Conservatorio Superior de Musica in Granada / Spain and at the Anton Bruckner Private University in Linz / Austria.
