Zoran Dukić (* 1969 in Zagreb ) is a Croatian classical guitarist .

Life

Youth and education

Zoran Dukić started playing guitar at the age of six . He graduated from the Music Academy in Zagreb with Darko Petrinjak and completed his studies with Hubert Käppel at the University of Music and Dance in Cologne  . The Greek guitarist Costas Cotsiolis and the Volos International Guitar Festival had an impact on his artistic development.

Career

Early in his career, Dukić won a large number of guitar competitions, including the 1992 Guerrero International Guitar Competition in Madrid . He won guitar competitions in honor of Fernando Sor , Manuel Ponce , Manuel de Falla and Francisco Tarrega and is the only guitarist to win both Andrés Segovia International Guitar Competitions in Palma de Mallorca (1991) and Granada (1996). At the Guerrero International Guitar Competition he was the first non-Spanish to be recognized by the jury for the best interpretation of Spanish music.

Dukić's musical spectrum ranges from works by Johann Sebastian Bach to Benjamin Britten , from Fernando Sor to Isaac Albéniz , from Francisco Tárrega to Heitor Villa-Lobos . He also interprets contemporary works such as those by Leo Brouwer , Tōru Takemitsu or Hans Werner Henze .

In the meantime, Dukić has performed as a guitar soloist in more than 30 countries and on all continents, including the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam , the Teatre de la Monnaie in Brussels , the Maison de Radio France in Paris , the National Gallery of Canada in Ottawa , the Luis Ángel Arango Library in Bogota and the Cemal Reşit Rey Concert Hall in Istanbul . He has also played with numerous orchestras , including orchestras from Belgium , Chile , Germany , Colombia , Croatia , the Netherlands , Switzerland , Spain , Taiwan and Hungary .

Dukić has taught at the Music Academy in Zagreb and at the University of Music in Aachen and teaches at the Koninklijk Conservatorium in The Hague and at the Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya in Barcelona . He has trained numerous young classical guitarists. He is also regularly invited to international guitar festivals to give master classes or to appear as a guest soloist, such as the Koblenz International Guitar Festival . Dukić is a founding member of the Trio de Cologne , a guitar trio that interprets classical and contemporary chamber music , and the European Guitar Quartet (together with Pavel Steidl , Thomas Fellow and Reentko Dirks ).

  • 1994: First prize at the International Guitar Competition “Printemps de la Guitarre” in Belgium and special prize from the “Belgian Composers Association”
  • 1996: First prize at the Andrés Segovia International Guitar Competition in Granada
  • 1996: First prize at the Manuel Maria Ponce International Guitar Competition in Tredrez-Locquemeau
  • 1997: First prize at the De Bonis International Guitar Competition in Cosenza and audience prize
