The Moscow Cathedral Choir is a Russian university choir from Moscow . - The mixed choir became known worldwide through its Christmas and Easter tours .

history

Moscow Cathedral Choir is one of seven choral ensembles of 1991 by Prof. Viktor Sergeyevich Popov founded the Moscow Choir College , now called the University , Viktor Popov Choir Academy of Art Moscow .

The repertoire of the Moscow Cathedral Choir includes sacred and secular choral music from ancient times to modern times . Including Russian Orthodox chants and Russian folk songs . In addition to the large concert halls in Moscow, the mixed vocal ensemble is also a regular guest in the well-known halls of Europe, Asia and America. It is also used for international music festivals such as u. a. the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival , the Bodensee Festival , the Rheingau Music Festival , the Walkenrieder cloister concerts or Obrasso Concerts in the KKL Luzern (see photo) invited.

As soloists u. a. Cecilia Bartoli , Andrea Bocelli , Montserrat Caballé and Renée Fleming can be heard with the choir.

The Moscow Cathedral Choir has made numerous radio and television appearances . Records and CDs are also available. The Süddeutsche Zeitung wrote after a concert of the choir in the Munich Cathedral : " As if the sky would sing "

In 2015 Nikolay Azarov was appointed Artistic Director and Chief Conductor of the Moscow Cathedral Choir.
