Thomas Franke (journalist)

Thomas Franke (* 1967 in Osnabrück ) is a German author , journalist and film producer . He lives in Berlin and writes mainly about Eastern Europe.

Life

Thomas Franke studied political science in Hamburg. For years he dealt with media politics and the politics of Helmut Kohl and the CDU. Since 1989 he has been working as a freelance author mainly for public radio . Franke lived in Moscow from 2012 to 2017 and worked there with Gesine Dornblüth for Deutschlandfunk . With her he also runs the journalist office “texte und toene”.

He also works literarily and writes poetry, audio and theater plays and produces short films and documentaries. In spring 2017 his book Russian Fear was published. Insights into the post-Soviet soul in the Edition Körber Foundation .

Franke is a member of the Weltreporter network. He is a permanent author at the Kreuzberg literary workshop and reads post-prose texts and anti-poetry for the artist collective Garage.
