Thomas Gaitanides

Thomas Gaitanides (* 1948 ) is a German radio journalist . His father Johannes Gaitanides was a German-Greek writer and publicist.

Gaitanides began his career in the 1970s with Bayerischer Rundfunk in the newly founded service wave Bayern 3 . There he initially supervised and moderated the service program for drivers Gute Fahrt . Magazine programs such as B3-Kurier , Radio-Report and the Saturday Club on Bayern 1 were added later. In addition, he has shot and produced over 25 travel films for Bavarian television, especially for the "Fernweh" series, over a number of years.

Since 2008 , Gaitanides was the wave manager of the new digital radio wave Bayern plus of the Bavarian broadcasting company. Here he also designed and moderated the daily service program Das Magazin .

From its start in 1990 until his retirement in 2013, Gaitanides was, as Mr. Radltour, also the organizer of the annual recreational bicycle event (BR-Radltour) BR-Radltour. He also designs and directs the annual "BR aktiv Kreuzfahrt" and the "BR Radlfrühling". He also initiated the annual "Farmer's Market Mile" with 120 market stalls on Odeonsplatz together with the Bavarian Farmers' Association.

Gaitanides was also active as a writer. In 2006 "Odysseus lives" was published with photos and stories about the Aegean Sea. In 2018 his novel "Zeus in India" was published by Amazon, in which he combines Greek and Indian mythology and draws attention to the palm leaf libraries in India.
