Thomas Glocer

Thomas Henry Glocer (born October 8, 1959 ), also Tom Glocer , is an American manager and former CEO of Thomson Reuters .

Under his leadership, the news and financial information provider Reuters , founded by the German Paul Julius Reuter in 1850 , of which he was CEO from 2001 to 2008, was taken over by the Canadian Thomson Corporation . Thomson Reuters, together with Bloomberg LP, dominates the professional financial information market.

Tom Glocer began his career at Reuters in 1993 as Vice President and General Counsel at Reuters America. After taking on several management positions within the group, he was elected CEO in July 2001. At the turn of 2012 he left the company.

Glocer holds a bachelor's degree in politics from Columbia University and a doctorate in law from Yale Law School .

Tom Glocer is married with two children, lives in New York City and writes his own blog.
