Thomas J. Craughwell

Thomas J. Craughwell (born July 11, 1956 in Chicago , Illinois - †  June 13, 2018 in Bethel , Connecticut ) was an American author .

Life

Craughwell was the son of Ambrose and Marilyn Craughwell, who both survived him. He had two sisters, Karen Jefferys and Kathleen Craughwell-Varda ( John ). He lived for several years in Hawthorne ( New Jersey ) and graduated from Montclair State University and New York University and graduated with a PhD in English literature.

He was buried in Bethel on June 18, 2018.

After graduating, he worked for three years as a copywriter for the Book-of-the-Month Club and one year as marketing director for an expensive, upscale travel company. He has scripted a television commercial for the History Book Club, direct mail for Time-Life Books, TV Guide, The Reader's Digest, Hilton Hotels, and the American Banking Association. The work 50 States Fandex Cards published by him was sold in 700,000 copies.

He has been a successful freelance writer since 1992, writing more than 35 books and a variety of articles on historical, religious, political and popular topics. He has worked for the Wall Street Journal , American Spectator , Emmy Magazine , St. Anthony Messenger , Our Sunday Visitor , Catholic Digest, and US News & World Report , among others . He also worked as a freelance university lecturer and is said to have been awarded a professorship. A two-hour documentary was filmed about his book: Stealing Lincoln's Body .

Works

The first published book of Craughwell Every Eye Beholds You: A World Treasury of Prayer ( dt. : Each eye sees you: a world-treasury ) (1999) was a major selection of his contributions to the Book-of-the-Month Club and Quality Paperback Book Club. His book on Patron Saints, Saints for Every Occasion (2001) has been translated into Spanish, Italian and Polish.
