Thomas Korbun (* 1968 ) is a biologist and Scientific Director of the Institute for Ecological Economic Research (IÖW) in Berlin.

Career

Thomas Korbun studied biology at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt from 1989 to 1992 . In 1992 he moved to the Philipps University in Marburg , where he majored in scientific nature conservation and in the minor subjects zoology , public law and psychology . In 1996 Korbun got his diploma in biology there. From 1996 to 1998 he was a research assistant at the University of Marburg in the field of scientific nature conservation and also scientific coordinator of a joint project in the field of agricultural landscape research in Brandenburg funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research and the German Federal Environmental Foundation. In 1998 he was also a research assistant at the State Institute for Large Protected Areas of the State of Brandenburg (LAGS) in Eberswalde. Korbun has been the Scientific Director of the IÖW in Berlin since 1999. The focus of his work is on research policy and research management, sustainability strategies and nature conservation. Korbun has also been the spokesman for the Ecological Research Network (Ecornet) since 2011 . Korbun is also a member of the board of the Association for Ecological Economic Research eV (VÖW).
