Thomas Mellewigt

Thomas Mellewigt (* 1963 in Remscheid ) is a German professor for business administration and management at the Free University of Berlin .

life and work

Between 1982 and 1985, Mellewigt initially completed an apprenticeship as a banker at Commerzbank . He immediately followed suit with a degree in business administration at the University of Paderborn , which he completed in 1990. In 1991 he became a research assistant at the chair for "General Business Administration and Organization" of Rolf Bronner at the University of Mainz . There he received his doctorate in March 1995 with the thesis Group Organization and Group Management - an empirical study of listed companies . He had already started a position at o.tel.o communications in January 1995 , where he later rose to head of department. In October 1998 he returned to research and became a research assistant at the University of Mainz. In December 2002 he completed his habilitation there and received the Venia legendi for business administration. In the summer semester of 2003 he took up the professorship for business administration, especially organization, at the University of Leipzig . In October 2004 he changed to the chair for organization and corporate management, especially media economics at the University of Paderborn. From October 2006 to October 2015 he held the endowed professorship of the Deutsche Telekom Foundation for corporate management, in particular value-added knowledge management, at the Free University of Berlin . In 2015 he switched to the chair for strategic management at the Free University of Berlin, which he has held since then.

Mellewigt's research focuses primarily on corporate cooperation in the field of strategic alliances, outsourcing and organizational economics.
