Thomas Quantity (born November 2, 1949 ) is a former German football player. In the GDR Oberliga , the top division in GDR football, he played from 1973 to 1975 for FC Rot-Weiß Erfurt . Quantity is a multiple GDR junior national player.

Athletic career

At the age of ten, Thomas Quantity was accepted into the children's soccer team at SC Rot-Weiß Erfurt in 1961. In 1966 he was taken over by the newly founded FC Rot-Weiß Erfurt with the soccer section of SC Turbine. As a junior player for FC Rot-Weiß, Quantity played four international matches with the GDR junior national team between 1967 and 1968, in which he was called up as a defender and scored one goal. In 1967 he became junior champion with FC Rot-Weiß.

At Rot-Weiß Erfurt he came in the 1968/69 season with the 2nd team, which played in the second-rate GDR league , to his first league game in the men's division. It stayed with one use, and at the end of the season Rot-Weiß II rose from the district league . It was not until 1972 that the second team managed to return to the GDR league, where quantity was a regular in 1972/73 with 21 stakes in points (of 22). Also for the 1973/74 season he was initially nominated for the 2nd team, for which he also played seven GDR league games in the first half of the season. However, when several players were canceled in the league team, crowd moved up to the 1st team and completed 15 point games with her by the end of the season. He was mainly used in defense. He also played twice in the storm, where he scored the first of his five league goals in the game RWE - 1. FC Lokomotive Leipzig (3: 1). The 1974/75 season was the most successful season in Menges football career. He completed all 26 league matches as a defender and scored three goals. In 1975/76 his success seemed to be repeated, in the first half of the season crowd was in all 13 league games. But the game RWE - Energie Cottbus (5: 0), in which he was substituted at half time, was his last appearance in the major league. In the second half of the season he was only used in the 2nd team, which was now only represented in the third-rate district league. After that, after 54 league games and five goals, quantity ended his career at FC Rot-Weiß Erfurt.

For the 1976/77 season he joined the GDR league promoted UT Erfurt . There he was only able to play six games out of 22 games and was also without a goal. When BSG UT was relegated from the GDR league after just one year, there was a move to GDR league club BSG Robotron Sömmerda . There, too, he could only complete six point games in 1977/78, but scored one goal. The following season he was able to play through to one point game and was also successful with three goals. Despite his achievements, Robotron also had to relegate at the end of the 1978/79 season.

Meanwhile, crowd was almost 30 years old and ended his career in high-class football. As a leisure football player, he played for ZSG Schlotheim until 1981, which he helped to promote to the district league in 1980.
