Thomas Brown Mitchell (* 1843 in Kirkmahoe , Scotland , † August 1921 in Blackburn , England ) was a Scottish football coach .

Mitchell left his native Scotland around 1867. In 1887 he became the first full-time coach of the Blackburn Rovers , which had previously been coached by a selection of players. He stayed in Blackburn until 1896 and led the club between two FA Cup wins .

In 1897 he took over Woolwich Arsenal , as Arsenal FC was called at the time. However, he stayed only seven months in office before he left the club in March 1898 as fifth in the Second Division .

Mitchell later returned to the Blackburn Rovers, but has now taken on other roles at the club.
