Thomas P. Rosandich
Thomas P. Rosandich (* 7. August 1932 in Sheboygan Falls , Wisconsin ) is a former Specialist of United States Marine Corps , track coach, sports official and the owner and president of the United States Sports Academy .
Life
After graduating from high school, Rosandich, the son of immigrants from Croatia , received an athletics and football scholarship from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse , from which he graduated in 1954 with a bachelor's degree in physical exercise . He then signed up for twenty years in the United States Marine Corps , where he became the athletics and cross-country trainer of the entire Marine Corps in 1956 and coached their athletes at the 1956 Summer Olympics in Melbourne . Because of his success, he was entrusted with public relations tasks as part of the US Ambassadors of Sport program , from which the Peace Corps' sports programs developed. In the following decades he worked mainly in Southeast Asia and was a. a. National coach for athletics in Malaysia , Laos , Singapore , Borneo and Indonesia . At the National Sports Institute in Indonesia, he also obtained a master's degree in sports administration. After he returned to the University of Wisconsin Parkside (1967–1972) and the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (1972–1976) as a sports director , he founded the permanent training camp Olympia Sport Village (1966), which started the boom in continuous running USA took advantage. He remained permanently connected to the sports directors as a member of their committees. From his experience in Asia working with coaches, especially from the former Eastern Bloc , he had seen that American training science was far behind. Therefore, he founded the United States Sports Academy in 1972 and took over its management full-time in 1976 when he relocated it south to Alabama . Here, trainers were initially trained and trained. In the meantime, he himself had completed his doctorate in sports science at the Union Graduate School in Ohio with a thesis on the International Physical Fitness Test , which he a. a. applied to all students in Bahrain . Rosandich ran the Academy until 2015 when he passed responsibility to his son.
