Thomas Rödel

Thomas G. Rödel (born March 19, 1967 in Rehau ) is a German chemist .

After graduating from high school in Selb in 1986 , Rödel studied chemistry at the University of Bayreuth . In 1996 he received his doctorate on the synthesis of mold toxins with Hans Gerlach . He then worked in industry, first as a pharmaceutical representative at UCB and then at Rehau . In 2004 Rödel became professor for organic and macromolecular chemistry at the University of Merseburg . He turned down a call to the Georg Simon Ohm University of Applied Sciences in Nuremberg in 2009 .

Rödel is married and has three children.

Trivia

Thomas Rödel caused a nationwide sensation on January 25, 2016 with an interjection at the opening event of the Fraunhofer Institute for Microstructure of Materials and Systems in Halle with Chancellor Angela Merkel . Rödel criticized the Chancellor's policy.
