Johannes Jokel (* in Vienna ) is an Austrian opera singer ( bass ).

Life

Jokel studied at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna with Eugenie Besalla-Ludwig, Esther Réthy , Hilde Zadek and Walter Berry . He made his debut as Figaro in Paisiello's Il barbiere di Siviglia at the Vienna Chamber Opera . After his debut, Johannes Jokel was hired to play 1st bass at the Städtische Bühnen Münster . Herbert von Karajan later signed Jokel to the Salzburg Festival and the Easter Games.

Since then, Johannes Jokel has worked at the Grand Théâtre du Genève, Maggio Musicale Fiorentino , Graz Opera House , Nice , Danzig, Komische Oper Berlin , Brucknerhaus Linz , Wiener Musikverein and Wiener Konzerthaus , Tonhalle Zurich , Alte Oper Frankfurt , Arena di Verona , among others .

Gmundner Festival

Johannes Jokel is the founding member of the Gmundner Festwochen . As co-founder, artistic director and artistic director, he built the Gmundner Festival into an internationally respected festival.
