Thomas Raab (legal scholar)

Thomas Raab (* 1961 in Bad Kreuznach ) is a German legal scholar .

Life

Raab studied in Mainz , where he in 1992 with a thesis on Negatorischer legal protection of the works council codetermination against adverse action by the employer doctorate was. The dissertation was awarded the Johannes Gutenberg University prize for the best legal dissertation of the year. In 1998 he completed his habilitation with a thesis on exchange contracts with third party participation .

After his habilitation, Raab took up chairs in Cologne , Tübingen and Augsburg before he was offered a C3 professorship at the University of Augsburg, which Raab accepted in the 2001/2002 winter semester. In the 2003 summer semester, Raab switched to a C4 professorship at the University of Trier . Raab holds the chair for civil law and labor law there.

In June 2006 Raab turned down an offer at the University of Jena . From October 2006 to September 2007 Raab was Dean of the Faculty of Law. From January 2011 to January 2015 Raab served as Vice President of the University of Trier for four years. Since January 2013 he has been director of the Institute for Legal Policy at the University of Trier .
