Thomas Renner (born March 17, 1967 ) is a former German soccer player .

Career

Thomas Renner played for SV Wulfertshausen and TSG Augsburg 85 in his youth . From 1985 he was then in the Bayernliga squad of TSV 1860 Munich . After four years in which the promotion to professional football was not successful, he switched to league rivals FC Augsburg . After only one season there he was signed in 1990 by the first division club 1. FC Kaiserslautern . With the Palatine he became German champions in 1990/91 without having played a single game in the professional team. So he said goodbye after only one season and went to the second division club SV Waldhof Mannheim . With Mannheim he just missed promotion to the Bundesliga and moved to SpVgg Unterhaching at the end of the season , having only played five times for SV Waldhof. The Munich suburbs had been promoted from the Bayernliga and, now with Thomas Renner as a player, had to accept the direct relegation. In 1993/94 SpVgg Unterhaching qualified for the newly created regional league , but Renner left the club after two years. In the 1994/95 season he was still active for SpVgg Bayreuth and reached the runner-up in the Bavarian League with the club behind Wacker Burghausen .
