Thomas Earl Robinson (born March 17, 1991 in Washington, DC ) is an American professional basketball player who is under contract with the Russian first division club BK Chimki . He was selected fifth in the 2012 NBA draft after playing for the University of Kansas for three seasons .

High school career

Robinson played for Brewster Academy in Wolfeboro while in high school . In his senior year of high school, he averaged 16 points, 13 rebounds, and 5 blocks.

College career

Robinson played the first two years coming off the bench. After key performers moved to the NBA in 2011, Robinson moved up to the starting line-up. In his third year, Robinson scored 17.7 points and got 11.9 rebounds per game. Among other things, Robinson achieved 30 points and 21 rebounds on December 31, 2011 in the game against the University of North Dakota . This made him the first player at his university since the legendary Wilt Chamberlain in 1961, who scored over 30 points and 20 rebounds.

At the end of the season, Robinson was named Big 12 Conference Player of the Year . He was also appointed to the 1st Team All Big 12 Conference Team and the Consensus NCAA All-American First Team .

Professional career

On June 28, 2012, Thomas Robinson was drafted in 5th place by the Sacramento Kings . For the Kings, Robinson came off the bench in his rookie season to get used to the faster game in the NBA.

On February 20, 2013, however, Robinson was transferred from the Kings to the Houston Rockets . Robinson averaged 4.8 points and 4.7 rebounds per game for the Kings in 51 games.

To save salaries, the Rockets transferred Robinson to the Portland Trail Blazers in the summer of 2013 . With the Blazers Robinson could not prevail either and was transferred to the Denver Nuggets on February 20, 2015 , but released shortly afterwards and signed a ten-day contract with the Brooklyn Nets . However, he was signed off the waiver list by the Philadelphia 76ers shortly before the deadline . In summer 2015 he moved to the Brooklyn Nets.

After a year with the Nets, his contract was not extended. Through the training camp, Robinson then managed to get a place with the Los Angeles Lakers for the 2016/17 season .
