Thomas Ruf

Thomas Ruf (born July 27, 1911 in Leutkirch im Allgäu ; † January 5, 1996 in Esslingen am Neckar ) was a German CDU politician .

Life and work

Ruf was a graduate economist. Since 1936 he was active in the economy, since 1939 authorized signatory of a medium-sized import and wholesale company. He was a co-founder and until 1949 Vice President of the Esslingen Chamber of Commerce . Furthermore, he was the founder and until 1947 head of the social assistance service, and founder and until 1959 head of the local adult education center.

Party
Ruf belonged to the CDU and was a leading member of its economic council. He headed the commission set up by the Berlin Federal Party Congress in 1968 to develop a position for the CDU on the amendment of the Works Constitution Act , which was also known in public as the "Reputation Commission".

Deputy
reputation belonged to the German Bundestag in 1953-1972. The focus of his work was social and health policy . He was involved in drafting the health insurance reform and the Works Constitution Act. He was also committed to the equalization of family burdens.
