Thomas Samuel Humpidge

Thomas Samuel Humpidge (born July 23, 1853 in Gloucester , † November 11, 1887 in Aberystwyth , Wales) was an English chemist .

Humpidge studied at the Royal School of Mines and in Heidelberg with Robert Wilhelm Bunsen , where he obtained his B.Sc. acquired. He attended the Fellenberg Institute in Hofwyl. In 1883 he was an employee of Edward Frankland . Around 1885 he became professor of chemistry at the University College of Wales at Aberystwyth . He determined the atomic mass of beryllium .
