Thomas Schroedter

Thomas Theodor Schroedter (born September 20, 1955 in Kleve ) is a German sociologist , photographer , journalist and DJ .

Life and work

Schroedter studied between 1976 and 1978 at the Siegen University of Applied Sciences in the field of social affairs. In 1978 he switched to the Bielefeld University of Applied Sciences and graduated with a diploma in the summer of 1980 . Since then he has worked as a DJ, photographer and journalist for the magazines analyze & kritik and Sozialistische Zeitung (SOZ) and as an editor for the free radio “Radio Palmares”.

From October 1980 he studied educational science at the Comprehensive University of Paderborn . In 1987 he completed his studies in educational sciences with a diploma thesis with Dieter H. Jütting in the field of youth and adult education. During this time he worked as a social pedagogue in Paderborn in the "House of the Open Door" and was, with one interruption, education officer at the Association of German Scouts (BDP) in Frankfurt until 1991 .

From April 1994 to December 1994 he was a research assistant at the International Office of the University of Paderborn. He then worked for a year until December 1995 as a research assistant in the Committee for Economic Cooperation for the Bundestag member Winfried Wolf in Bonn.

Between 2001 and 2003 Schroedter worked at the Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences in the field of social education as a research assistant. He received a teaching position from the Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences from April 2002 to March 2005. Between 2003 and 2009, Schroedter taught at the University of Paderborn in the department of sociology. Since 2009 he has been a teacher for special tasks at the University of Paderborn. In the summer of 2015 he completed his doctorate on “Youth as a privilege and discrimination”.
