Thomas Schumacher (theologian)

Thomas Schumacher (* 1966 in Singen am Hohentwiel ) is a Roman Catholic theologian .

Life

He studied Catholic theology at the Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg and at the PTH Sankt Georgen . He was assistant and lecturer at the universities of Freiburg im Breisgau (2001–2008), Münster (2007–2010), Augsburg (2010–2014), Landau in der Pfalz (2008–2010) and Freiburg im Üechtland (2014). After receiving his doctorate in Freiburg im Breisgau, he was awarded the Armin Schmitt Prize for Biblical Text Research and the Alumni Prize of the Catholic Theological Faculty of the University of Freiburg im Breisgau. He has been a professor in Freiburg im Breisgau since 2015 and is President of the Department for Biblical Studies and Director of the Freiburg Bible and Orient Museum .

His work and research focuses on Pauline literature and specifics of the Pauline language, Luke's Gospel and Acts of the Apostles, philological and linguistic issues, especially historical semantics, reassessment of eschatological passages in the New Testament and theology of Israel in the New Testament.
