Thomas Scrope, 5th Baron Scrope of Masham

Thomas Scrope, 5th Baron Scrope of Masham (* around 1428 , † 1475 ) was an English nobleman .

Life

He was the third son of John Scrope, 4th Baron Scrope of Masham and Elizabeth, daughter of Thomas Chaworth. Sir Thomas inherited the title of Baron Scrope of Masham from his father when he died in 1455.

As Baron Scrope of Masham, he took part in meetings of the House of Lords several times between 1459 and 1472 and was commissioned with several missions between 1455 and 1470, such as Commissioner of the Peace in North Riding of Yorkshire and East Riding of Yorkshire and Commissioner of Array for Yorkshire.

During the Wars of the Roses, he was largely neutral and cautious and only one source suggests that he was involved in one of the battles, either at Blore Heath in September 1459 or Ludlow in October 1459, as he was defeated by King Henry VI in December 1459 . is rewarded with a pension or annual payment of 20 marks for his services to the House of York .

He died in 1475.

He was married to Elizabeth Greystock, daughter of Ralph de Greystoke, 5th Baron Greystoke . He had the following children with her:
