Thomas Turton
Thomas Turton (born February 5, 1780 in York , Yorkshire, England, † January 7, 1864 in London ) was an English mathematician and Anglican theologian and Bishop of Ely .
Turton was from 1822 to 1827 Lucasischer Professor of Mathematics at the University of Cambridge .
From 1827 to 1842 he was at the University of Cambridge Regius Professor of Divinity . Turton was also Dean of Peterborough from 1830 to 1842, Dean of Westminster from 1842 to 1845, Bishop of Ely from 1845 to 1864 and composer of Anglican hymns.
