Thomas Vömel (born March 16, 1968 in Ludwigsburg ) is a German writer and illustrator. His works appear under the pseudonym Voenix and deal mainly with topics of Nordic mythology , astrology and occultism . In addition to books, he creates card sets, posters, tattoo templates, comics and commissioned large-format wall paintings.

Life

Vömel, who sees himself as a “ pagan artist”, analyzes mythological topics in his works under social and psychological aspects from today's perspective. In his view, the archetypes of centuries-old popular belief have lost none of their power and meaning.

Since 2013, Vömel has also been working as a ritual and seminar leader and organizes healing groups in which those seeking help can find alternative treatment using shamanic methods.

Vömel currently lives and works near Frankfurt a. M. near Worfelden (Hessen).

Actions

In June 2012 Vömel carried out the campaign “The desecrated Donareiche in Fritzlar” under the motto: “Heiden unite” on the Domplatz in Fritzlar in order to draw attention to the depiction of a bronze Boniface memorial, which was “the so-called apostle in an outrageous way glorify the Germans ”, who is enthroned armed with an ax on the once felled oak stump. Since this image, which symbolizes the forced Christianization of a whole people, hurt the feelings of many pagans, he called for religious tolerance in order to draw the public's attention to this topic. The event was repeated in June 2014 and June 2016.

Since 2014 Vömel has been running the youtube channel "Heiden-TV". There he publishes interviews, events and documentations on various people and topics from the German pagan scene at irregular intervals.
